Christmas gifts for new home owners – under £250

Mini-fridge – £159

If your loved one is working from home, or planning on watching most of their TV from their warm and comfortable bed (we have to save on those gas bills right!), then a mini-fridge is a must! Whilst these mini-fridges are gaining in popularity, it’s still a pretty unique christmas gift for new home owners, and probably a luxury they wouldn’t have bought for themselves just yet.

Compact, cool-looking and sooo convenient, this mini fridge means you can stock up on your snacks and drinks without spending energy running upstairs and downstairs a million times. This is one of the highest rated mini-fridges on Amazon, looks super cool and is nice and compact for a 50L capacity meaning you can place it on a desk, or under a side table if you wish.

Ruggable rug – from £200

Rugs can be an expensive investment, and for those who have just purchased a home, they may find they may need to wait up to a year before they have enough money for this. In comes you – their saviour! If you know their style and vision (even if you don’t – just ask them!) then rugs can be the perfect gifts for new home owners.

Ruggable, in particular, offer a great selection of rugs with an interesting selling point – you can easily stick them in the washing machine! Whilst normal rugs are either too thick to fit into a washing machine, or so thin that they’re uncomfortable to walk on, Ruggable rugs come with a padded, non-slip base which you can easily detach from for the washing machine!

Robot hoover – £209

Christmas gifts for new home owners - robot hoover

Outside of washing machines and dishwashers – the robot hoover is the biggest time-saving innovation to hit the market in the last 10 years. I cannot begin to explain to you how much time I’ve saved since purchasing one for myself (furry cat owner here!)

As far as Christmas gifts for new home owners go, this one will have your loved one singing your praises for many years to come. Particularly if this is their first time living alone – chores can really pile up when you’re on your own and this little robot is your personal helper.

This Robot Hoover sucks up the dust, fur, hair and crumbs that tend to accumulate on the floor, on a pre set timer, and then goes back and charges itself. It’s one of the highest rated robot hoovers of it’s kind on Amazon, and it’s the same one I have, and I can vouch that it’s been a god send!

An essentials shop – from £150

Doing a grocery shop for your loved one may seem like an unimpressive gift, but in fact can be one of the most thoughtful ways to congratulate a new home owner. Getting them enough essentials to fill their cupboards – from canned goods to noodles to cleaning materials to bottled drinks, these items can be quite expensive for a new home owner.

Adding some candles, toiletries and wine or chocolate to the mix can make them the ideal gifts for new home owners.

Portable TV projector – £124.99

There’s nothing like curling up under a duvet and watching a good film in the winter months. This portable projector is light weight but packs a strong punch with picture quality and additional features, such as it’s very own tripod and the ability to connect to wifi, or stream using your phone on bluetooth.

With high ratings on Amazon, at a great price point, these little projectors make perfect gifts for new home owners, Christmas or not!

Dry:Soon Drying Pod

Yes, everyone likes a fancy gift that they can wear or put on a shelf, or show off. But what about the convenient gifts for new home owners, that genuinely add to quality of life? Enter the drying pod, a space saving solution for those of us who don’t have washer/dryers & don’t have the option of drying our clothes outside.

These little wonders have your clothes clean in no time, whilst also being far cheaper to run than a tumble dryer (or turning up the heating). They’re super easy to assemble and tidy away as well, so despite not being the prettiest, they’re easy to hide when needed!

Luxury bedding – £80

There is nothing quite like getting into a bed covered in quality sheets at nighttime, and it can make such a difference to how a space looks. A bedroom instantly looks more expensive when kitted out in high quality textiles, yet this is something new home owners often neglect due to needing to spend their limited funds elsewhere.

If you’re likely to splurge on your gifts for new home owners, then bedding is something that they will be so grateful to have for years to come. You can get some great sets with high thread counts from stores like John Lewis – opt for neutral colours to avoid clashing with future colour schemes.

Large indoor plants – £75

www.patchplants.co.uk

Nothing makes a house a home like large houseplants for every room – they can really bring a room together and help to make a design feel ‘finished’. The most popular large indoor plants on the market at the moment are Fig Leaf, Olive trees and Palm trees. This Kentia palm tree from Patch Plants is a great option – very easy to care for, can manage in indirect sunlight and is non-toxic for pets and children.

You may feel that an artificial plant is a better option, but you should shop in-store for them so you can check the quality. Badly made artificial plants can really cheapen a home, and you can get caught out when shopping online.

A smart sound system – £64.99

The Echo dot with Alexa from Amazon is a great introduction to building smart home capabilities, and is a great starter product. The speaker quality itself is excellent, and this device syncs with audible, apple music, spotify or can sync with whatever your phone is playing via bluetooth.

From the ‘smart home’ perspective, the Echo dot has integrated Alexa, and can be synced with other smart devices such as a ring doorbell, smart lighting from phillips or Ikea, and a smart heating system. From an aesthetics perspective, the LED display can act as a digital clock, can show you the weather updates, song titles and more.

Christmas gifts for new home owners – under £50

Ring doorbell – £49.99

Speaking of smart home products – the ring doorbell is becoming an essentials, with most households having some form of video doorbell. The ring doorbell was the first smart doorbell to reach widespread popularity, and provides awesome christmas gifts for new home owners.

The ring doorbell can easily be set up, and syncs across your phone and smart home systems such as the echo dot, for example. It allows users to view who is at their front door, speak to them via their telephone if they are out, and also provides some sort of security, allowing users to store recordings of the exterior of the front door at all times.

Electric heater – £37.99

Welp, given the current economic climate (and just the climate in general) you know we would have to touch on central heating alternatives at some point. People who have bought their first home will likely be low on cash, and the rise of energy prices can add additional stress. Which makes money saving tools ideal gifts for new home owners.

This electric heater from Amazon is stylishly designed with rave reviews. It is able to provide heat to a room at a much lower cost than having your central heating turned out. The fan blows warm air into a room, quietly, and it has an adjustable temperature depending on the desired heat.

Ceramic vase – £37.98

You can never have enough vases – that’s a fact! The right vase can look beautiful on a shelf, or on a sideboard, whether it’s empty or filled with a beautiful bouquet. Ceramic vases are a timeless option, and this sage green beauty will make a sophisticated addition to any room in any home.

Door number sign

Having an elegant door number placard is one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to make a home look and feel more expensive from the very first impression. You can find a range of customizable door number signs on Amazon and Etsy.

This version from Amazon is one of my favourites – brass etching on a matt black background looks modern and elegant whilst still being quite subtle. They’re relatively easy to install – just ensure your gift recipient has access to a screwdriver that can cut through brick, depending on their exterior.

Painting of new home – £38

Probably one of my favourite ideas for gifts for new home owners is a watercolour painting of their new home. The purchase of your first home is one of the biggest milestones in any bodies lifetimes, and regardless of how long they spend in their new abode, it is something they will remember forever.

Having a painting of the likeness of their first ever home will be something they cherish for the rest of their lives – and is even something you can try your hand at DIY’ing if you are so inclined! This version is from Etsy and there are plenty of people offering this service – have a look through and see which styles you find the most attractive.

Christmas gifts for new home owners – under £30

Tile Mate bluetooth item finder – £14.99

These little bits of technology are especially useful gifts for new home owners who have a tendency to misplace things! Add these to a keyring and give them to your loved one so they never lose their keys again!

This tile is bluetooth enabled, so you can find it when you’re in the home by using the tile app to ‘call’ the tile (making it beep so you can find it). When it’s outside of the bluetooth range you’re also able to use the app to find it’s exact location. It is compatable with Android, IOS and smart home systems, and has great reviews on Amazon.

Nordic chunky hand knitted throw – £30

Throws and decorative pillows are welcome gifts for new home owners, and chunky knits are particularly on trend at the moment. They can be quite expensive – particularly those on Etsy, however there are cheaper varieties at most major retailers.

This very affordably priced hand knitted throw from Asda will suit any home. It’s 120cm long and 150cm wide, making for a lovely living room blanket to curl up under, whilst looking beautiful carefully arranged on an armchair or sofa.

Interior design books for coffee table – £24.29

We all love a coffee table book, it helps to add interest to the coffee table area whilst providing something beautiful to flick through when we have the time.

This coffee table book is a particularly good gifts for new home owners, as it provides a huge amount of inspiration for interior design styles. A new home owner is often faced with a blank canvas, which is an exciting yet overwhelming prospect. This gift will therefore serve two purposes.

Classy containers for bathroom – £13.48

Having uniform refillable bottles help to make a bathroom look more high class and less cluttered, by removing the mismatch of multiple bottles in multiple styles lining the edge of your bath.

These elegant blue dispensers can help to create a hotel/spa like atmosphere in the bathroom by providing uniform, stylish containers for your shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They are also leak free with a lock and unlock feature for the pump.

Fancy throw pillows – £12

Throw pillows make for excellent gifts for new home owners, and regardless of if you know their style or not – neutral throw pillows can make any space feel more homely.

Dunelm have great prices for throw pillows, and have a varied selection to choose from, just be sure to search for filled cushions (rather than cushion covers).

Christmas gifts for new home owners – under £10

Hanging photo frame – £8.99

Hanging photo frames are a lovely way to make impact on bare walls, whether you put photographs in them, dried plants or illustrations. They’re also versatile enough to look cohesive in any room, whether it’s the living room or the bathroom, making them great gifts for new home owners.

I particularly like the brass metal versions, such as this one from Amazon, which is only £8.99.

LED lighting – £8.99

This colour changing LED lighting strip makes for great gifts for new home owners – particularly those with more masculine design tastes, and can make a huge impact for very little money.

This version from Amazon is 5 meters long, and can be put beneath sofas or tv units, or behind tvs, to make very cool mood lighting. There are 20 colour options and users can turn them on and off (and dim them!) via a remote control. They’re also super easy to install, with back adhesive to stick them in place, and a plug for charging.

Last but not least we have the succulent plants – a classic when it comes to gifts for new home owners! Succulents are very difficult to kill, and provide a great splash of greenery in any room.
