What we didn’t discuss in that post, was the propensity for wallpaper to make a huge impact, leaving no need for wall decor. I have pulled together my 20 top finds for mens bedroom wallpaper just for you! Why use wallpaper?

Wallpaper and paint are both great options to refresh a room. Whilst it is ultimately up to your own personal tastes, there are a couple of things you should consider first. Paint is your best option in rooms that have more moisture, such as kitchens and bathrooms. It can also be easier to put up.

On the other hand, wallpaper often makes more of an impact, with more intricate designs that provide great interest and can make your walls feel less ’empty’. There are so many different types and varieties to choose from, making it one of the most flexible forms of decor. It also is more durable, with less propensity to chip or get scratches, depending on the quality.

Whilst painting a room is typically easier to do yourself, wallpaper has moved ahead in leaps and bounds when it comes to usability. Self-adhesive wallpapers or ‘paste the wall’ wallpapers are ones to look out for if you are a beginner planning on doing the job yourself. If you’re nervous about doing it yourself, you should factor in the cost of installation by a professional.

What is mens wallpaper?

Well, any wallpaper can be classed as men’s wallpaper – let’s make that clear. We’re not here to force adherence to stereotypes – if you want to go with floral, or granny-chic, that is up to you.

In this article, what we mean by men’s wallpaper are the typically ‘masculine’ styles – generally darker and moodier with more of a nod to materials such as wood, brick and leather. Anyone can buy these wallpapers and men can buy any wallpaper – just want to make that clear. If more ‘masculine’ styles of wallpaper are what you’re looking for, then this article is for you.

Wabi Sabi – Men’s bedroom wallpaper

In Wabi Sabi we see a focus on assymetry, materials in their natural state and a general minimalist outlook. Wabi Sabi/Japandi wallpaper is all about neutral tones with interesting, 3d patterns or lots of texture.

These two wallpaper designs from belartestudio are truly beautiful, and encompass the Japandi focus on quality craftsmanship. Both would look stunning as a backdrop to a Japandi or Wabi Sabi design with wood and stone accents, in a neutral colour palette.

Mid-century modern mens wallpaper for bedroom

Mid-century modern, known for it’s retro shapes, brighter colours, and sometimes almost western characteristics is the boldest out of the decor styles we’re looking at today. For mens bedroom wallpaper, You can therefore afford to go a little bit bolder with these wallpapers, looking at block colours in navy blue or emerald green, with repeating patterns throughout.

Modern Lux – mens bedroom wallpaper

Between you and I, Modern Lux is my favourite style, particularly when it comes to men’s wallpaper for bedroom. Wallpaper is absolutely a focal point when it comes to a Modern Lux design, and is a key part in creating the feeling of luxury, without spending a crazy amount of money.

When it comes to Modern Lux mens bedroom wallpaper. You’ll want to look out for wallpapers of faux leather or faux reptile skin, with a focus on black, dark greys and petrol blues, sometimes with gold highlights. This paired with statement lighting and good quality bedding is essentially all you need to achieve this type of look.

Marble-effect wallpaper works well in modern lux rooms at all, particularly if the rest of the decor is minimalist, this can help to create a huge impact. Opt for dark, moody greens for a pop of colour, or blacks or whites if you’re looking to make a statement through contrasts.

Modern Rustic – Men’s bedroom wallpaper

You may not have your hands on that wooden cabin that Modern Rustic is so closely associated with, but that does not mean you can’t recreate the modern rustic home from elsewhere! If we’re evoking feelings of a cabin in the woods we want wood effect wallpaper, or forest scenery murals, or even some playful images of animal heads.

When thinking of mens bedroom wallpaper, wood panelling can often come to mind. Wood panelling can be pretty expensive to have installed, however there are some high quality wallpapers that do a good job of imitated the real thing. However, if you do have a bigger budget I would always go for the real thing.

You could also opt for a mural here as well – murals are illustrated wallpaper pieces that are intended to go on one feature wall. There are some beautiful designs across the market, and we love the sense of drama that this mountain wall mural gives to the otherwise neutral bedroom (below).

Industrial – mens bedroom wallpaper

Industrial is all about those warehouse exposed building materials – and if you’re not lucky enough to live in a converted warehouse (where the style originated), you can still achieve the same affect with wallpaper.

Make sure you go to see the wallpaper in person, or request a sample though – all material affect wallpapers are not created equal, unfortunately, and some can look really naff. When it doubt, go for darker colours such as black and navy blue, as they tend to look more realistic than red brick versions.

Mens bedroom wallpaper doesn’t always have to be.. wallpaper.. You can also get red brick tiles which you can add to a space – far more realistic but a lot harder to install – call a professional if you haven’t done something similar before.
