What is masculine bedding for men?
Whilst shopping around, I’ve found that a lot of bedding is directly marketed to women, or women buying for boys. You can see this with the marketing photos that brands are choosing to use, often with the bedding on sale being paired with pinks or more feminine headboards and accessories.
This can make it difficult for men to discern what would look good in their own space, if they’re going for a more masculine style.
But don’t give up yet! Your bed is where you spend around a 3rd of your life – so it’s important that you like how your bed looks! It’s also the focal point of your bedroom, meaning it’ll make a huge impact on how stylish your bedroom looks.
Masculine bedding for men can encompass a range of styles, from moody block colours, to masculine prints (think geometric over floral), to neutrals. If you’re struggling to find inspo let me help you! Read on for plenty of examples of masculine bedding, along with suggestions on how to best style these sets.

Masculine block colours
Charcoal bedding sets
The easiest way to make an impact in a stark room is by leaning into a darker coloured bedding. If you’re undecided on your colour scheme as of yet, a charcoal coloured bedding for men is your best bet – this will go with any colour you later decide to add to the room.
My favourite pairing with charcoal colour schemes is definitely stone/cream colours, as you can see on the Marks & Spencer wall and one of the MADE.com pillow cases. This gives a more muted, modern colour palette than going straight for a grey and white mix.

Forest green bedding sets
If you’re feeling braver – go for Forest Green! This brings a brightness to a room like no other, and looks great with metal headboards/accents and golden hardware. It’s also a surprisingly flexible bedding for men, looking great within a colour scheme of pinks, greys, yellows and neutrals.

Masculine Patterned bedding sets
If your room feels pretty empty and boring – go for a patterned bed for big impact! There are a variety of patterns you can go for, from Floral to Botanical, to forest themed and more. I find the more masculine patterned bedding sets tend to consist of lines, for some reason. Whether this is geometric, checkered or striped – it’s up to you!
Geometric bedding sets
You can get a wide range of geometric bedding for men across most stores. These consist of repeating patterns with straight lines. These look great with mid-century modern design styles, metal headboards and panelled walls. Again, these are a great way of bringing some life to an otherwise bare & empty room, and give a good starting point to stylist a room.

Tartan bedding sets
Tartan or checkered bedding sets are definitely associated with more masculine styles, evoking thoughts of winter log cabins. You can get these style of bedding for men in a range of colours – go for grey if you’re unsure of what colour scheme you want to have in your room.
If you’re feeling more bold, and want to lean into a modern rustic design style – a bright red or green tartan bed set will certainly make an impact. These shades look great with darker, grey walls or darker wood panelling.

Striped bedding sets
I think bedding for men looks great in striped patterns – a very easy way to add some pattern to a room without overwhelming it. This type of pattern is a lot more muted than geometric prints or tartan, but still adds a lot of interest to a room.
Striped bedding for men goes well with any colour scheme, and looks best when matched with lighter woods and white walls.

Neutral bedding sets
Mink bedding sets
As mink is ever so slightly pink, it gets a bad rep when it comes to masculine bedrooms. However, match these gorgeous hues with a dark charcoal colour scheme and magic will happen! This colour lightens a dark colour theme, enhancing a neutral palette, without making things look stark.
One of my favourite pairings! You can go for more muted tones like this version from Next, or lean more into the pink as we see from the duvet set from B&M.

Sage/Olive green bedding sets
My favourite colour! Another colour for bedding for men that looks beautiful with existing grey colour schemes. Go for Olives (like the set from Dunelm) if you have a darker colour scheme, to go further with the moody look whilst injecting a pop of colour. If you have a lighter colour scheme – sage and white look beautiful together, with a few potted plants dotted around & wooden accents.
Green also looks great stacked with other shades of green. For example, sage green can look beautiful with emerald green, and Olive also looks great with other shades.

Stone/Natural bedding sets
Why go for a harsh white bedding for men when you can go for a soft stone? Whilst bringing a similar contrast to a room that white does, the effect is much softer and more elegant. Stone/natural shades go with pretty much everything, and look so good in a Japandi/Wabi Sabi design style.
When it comes to bedding for men, stones are pretty much a no-brainer, and I think everyone should have a back up set of stone duvet sets regardless of colour and theme. The only style where this possibly would not work is if you’re going for a modern rustic theme, as the shade is very modern-looking.

Lux bedding sets
If you want your bed to feel heavenly, and look expensive, then you’ll need to look out for higher quality materials. When it comes to bedding, this is usually satin (or satin effect/sateen), linen or cotton with a high thread count.
The good thing about investing in very high quality bedding is that it really shows, and can make a whole room look much more expensive without having to do anything else. If you’re going for a Modern Lux look then this type of bedding is a must.
Satin/Sateen bedding sets
Satin, or satin effect, bedding is the most Lux looking bedding you can find, and makes such a difference to the look of a room. I particularly love Navy bedding sets in this material – something about the darkness of the Navy really helps to bring out the soft sheen of satin.
I would match this bedding for men with statement lighting and a dark feature wall behind the bed, either with a dark abstract mural or some 3d art.

Linen bedding sets
Linen is known to be one of the highest quality bedding types, and adds a natural, comfy feel to a room. This material is absolutely perfect for Japandi/Wabi Sabi room designs, and looks great in more relaxed design styles such as boho, or industrial.
Be warned though – this is seen as a luxury bedding for men because of it’s propensity to wrinkle. If you are able to keep on top of ironing, or if you are lucky enough to have someone who can do this for you, then I would proceed with caution.
